MUMMY!
For some reason, I've had a lot of interest in Mummies and the processes involved in mummification. Many people think that the process is disgusting and pointless actually. But the Egyptians were forward-thinking. They believed in the Afterlife, prayed to the sun god, Ra, and all sorts of awesome things.
So, in conclusion, don't do anything illegal in Egypt.😂
They preserved all the legends and greatness of their rulers for the forthcoming generations in the form of hieroglyphs which are scripted on walls of tombs and loads of other books. They also put up numerous curses and traps in the tombs of the rulers.
There are two types of mummification - one is like a cremation process and the other is like torture as punishment. The cremation process involves the removal of internal organs and filling them with sand or clay. Also, the bodies were wrapped with cloth, and balms and oils were applied to prevent the corpses from rotting and were decorated with jewels and finally placed in a well-adorned sarcophagus. As a punishment, the criminals were chained up and wrapped in cloth and were forced into a less glorious sarcophagus which was then filled with Scarab Beetles which devoured them. (this might sound terrifying but the ancient Egyptians did some pretty bad stuff)
My favorite is the mummification of Pharoah Tutankhamun who was the greatest Emperor of Egypt.
According to legend, his name literally translates to "Reincarnation of Lord Amun" who was one of the Hermopolitan Ogdoad.
The funny thing is that he was Pharoah when he was a child and died in a chariot accident. But still was a great emperor in the short period of his reign. Also, the curse of his tomb ended in the early death of most of the excavators who entered the tomb. They all died of pneumonia and a skin disease called Erysipelas

Until next time.

DeleteHmm.. Egyptians were actually a bit.. Ehem ehem.. When it came to life after death..
ReplyDeleteYes reincarnation takes place according hinduism but once a soul leaves it body then it would not need such pitty materialistic things like toothbrush and underwears to survive.. So basically it was a waste of time exploitation of labour in the process of making tombs
Well the ancient Egyptian rulers were pretty wealthy.......and anyone with such wealth would not want to let it go.......taking such petty and useless things does show materialism but um.....life today would not be entertaining with these stupid acts..... :)
